How To Apply False Eyelashes Without Tweezers

Applying false lashes is kinda fiddly, especially if you’re working with a super fine lash band. You want to ensure your lash band is sitting as close to your natural lash line as possible, to give you a seamless blend which looks more natural.

If you don’t get on well with using tweezers, or you’re scared to use tweezers so close to your eyes, here are some methods you can try, to apply your lashes without a pair of tweezers.

How To Apply False Eyelashes Without Tweezers

Why Some People Prefer To Apply False Eyelashes Without Tweezers

Tweezers let you get super precise to your lash line, but many people don’t like using tweezers for lash application, as fingers are more controlled and safer when working around your eyes. You can feel the lash band, and your skin, reducing the chance of you poking or pinching your eye or eyelid.

Your hands are also convenient, as you don’t need to search around for a specific lash tool, disinfecting tweezers or worry about using some sharp metal so close to your eyes. It means you can apply your lashes anywhere too.

Your fingers are also good if you’re a false lash newbie, as you’ll be able to correct angles or reposition the band with gentle pressure using your fingertips.

How To Prep Your Natural Lashes And Eyelids

Before you start the process of applying your false lashes, you need to prep your natural eyelashes and lid, so the lash band will grip well to your natural lash band, and feel comfortable all day.

Start off by cleansing your face, ensuring you remove any oil, old makeup and mascara using an oil-free eye makeup remover or facial cleanser. The cleaner your eyelids are, the better the bond of your false lashes.

Comb through your bare, clean eyelashes with a clean spoolie to separate them, and remove any loose lashes.

If you’re going to be wearing your lashes for a night out, skip applying heavy mascara before application, with just a light defining coat of mascara, to prevent any clumps or lash breakage when you remove them at the end of the night.

It’s always a good idea to apply a lash serum or lash conditioner at night, before bed, to keep your natural lashes healthy and flexible.

Holding False Eyelashes With Your Fingers

When your eyelids and natural lashes are clean and prepped, you’re ready to start your lash application. Hold the strip of lashes gently between your thumb and your index finger, keeping your grip close to the center, so the ends of the lashes don’t move around.

Pinch your lash band, so the lashes angle slightly upwards, as this will mimic your natural lashes’ direction, to help them sit seamlessly together.

Apply a thin and even layer of lash glue along the length of the lash band, and wait a few seconds until the glue starts to turn tacky. This will stop the lash band from sliding around when trying to place the lashes.

Adjusting The Lash Band Without Tweezers

When your lash glue starts to feel tacky, adjust the lash band using your fingertips, nudging it into place along your natural lash line.

Try and keep your mirror slightly below your eye level, so you can see the base of the lashes clearly, using gentle pressure and small movements, and never dragging the strip. You don’t want to smear lash glue everywhere.

Use your index finger and press the center of the lash band down first, and then you can use your thumb and middle finger to tap both the inner/outer corners until everything is aligned.

If you notice an edge lifting, hold it in place for a few extra seconds, to let the glue grip to your natural lashes.

The false lashes shouldn’t ever poke the inner corner of your eye, or should it sit too far from your natural eyelashes. If the falsies feel tight or scratchy on your eyes, slide the lash band very slightly, rather than just peeling it off completely.
